Zambia: A man standing by the road lost his right leg after he was hit in an accident between two vehicles on Thursday Morning in Lusaka. The vehicles involved in the accident have been identified as Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and a Toyota Coaster bus.
The accident happened near Chingwere junction in Lusaka around 08:30 hours in the morning. The victim of the unfortunate accident has also been identified by the police. 33-year-old Bowas Banda, was hit by the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck which led to the 33 year old getting seriously injured,
The Police officers have established that the vehicle had collided with the bus, after this the truck was veered off course. The Lusaka Police force dispatched a team of officers at the scene to start investigation.
The Police officers established that the truck driver, could not judge the clearance distance and crashed into the bus. The driver of the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck has been identified as 34 year old Ackson Malekano.
The driver is a resident of the Ngombe compound of Lusaka. After the accident, the victim Banda was taken to thee Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital where he recieved medical support. The other reported the accident to the police and took the victim to the hospital.
The medical practitioners have not provided any updates regarding the situation of the victim. Meanwhile, the police officers have identified the driver of the bus as 42-year-old Charles Zgalunga.
The bus driver is a resident of the Nine Miles area in Chibombo district. The bus involved in the accident was travelling with 23 passengers.
Eleven of the passengers escaped the accident with some minor injuries after the accident The victims were treated at Matero Level One Hospital before they were given an all clear for discharge.
Fortunately, the bus driver and 12 other passengers escaped the accident unharmed. The front screen, bumper, and side mirrors of the truck were damaged in the accident. Meanwhile the bus escaped with worse damage in the accident.
