Cameroon: Andre Onana, player of Cameroon Football National Team FECAFOOT was interviewed in Premiere League Studio recently, where he mentioned that being a Cameroonian is his greatest pride with everything he has achieved so far.
While mentioning about his country as his highest pride, Andre Onana has also paid respect to the Cameroonian soccer legends and acknowledged the players who have done great things for Cameroon football.
Andre Onana, particularly highlighted the name of Roger Milla as one of those who made him believe big things were possible.
The soccer player also paid the tribute to the very first pitch where he ever played football as a young boy and said, “In Cameroon we have a local pitch, we use to call that pitch ‘Guiseppe Meazza’ back in those days.”
He added, “I don’t know if it’s still there. it was really small, it was just for 5, 6 or 8 people. It was different than the Old Trafford hundred percent. For us ack then as kids it was really a very big thing for me, it marked the beginning of a dream.”
A special segment was conducted by the interviewers where Andre Onana answered the most searched questions on the internet about him.
The first most searched question he answered was, “Who is Onana’s football hero?” to which he replied, he considers Manuel Neuer as he is the one who made him change his style of play.
Another question he answered was, “Who does Onana think is the best goalkeeper ever?” he answered Manuel Neuer, Edwin van der Sar, Iker Casillas. And responded that it is difficult to name any one.
The third most asked question about Andre Onana is that “can Onana sing?”, he answered I’m not the best and I’m not the worst (laughs).
A tricky question was asked that, “Onana what’s my name. Do you have people come all the time and say that to you. Like Rihanna’s song?”
Onana replied, “When I was in Ajax and going for the warm up, that’s the song they used to play. It’s just fun for me and I just enjoy the moment.”
The interviewer asked again, “Victor Lindelof was also singing it to you.” And Onana replied, “I cannot hide. It’s everywhere.”
Another most asked question was, “Why does Onana wear the number 24 shirt?” to which he explained that because he was born o the 2nd of April (2 as date and 4 as April is the fourth month of a year).
The sixth most asked question was “What’s Onana’s best moment in football?” to which Andre Onana elaborated that “When we qualified for the World Cup. Cameroon against Algeria. It was a tough qualification against a very good opponent. We scored in the last second of the game, in the dressing room and we didn’t believe we were going to the world cup.”
Another question asked was, “What is Onana’s greatest Premier League save?”. “Against Haaland at home,” replied the player.
Eighth most asked question about Andre Onana is that how much languages can Onana speak. Andre mentioned that he can speak Spanish, English, French, Italian, I can understand a bit of Dutch and also my native language in Cameroon, too.
Another most searched question indeed is that, “Does Onana have any hidden talents?” to which he responded gladly that yes, he can dance. We have a very good DJ Dalot.
Moreover, Andre Onana is in talks with the British company – Glove Glu. For the brand ambassadorship deal Onana trended last week during the match which was played against Liverpool, after he was spotted applying Vaseline on his gloves.
So, now instead of Vaseline, Onana will use their grip spray on his gloves to enhance the grip. Reportedly, a bottle of the product has been sent to the Cameroonian goalkeeper for a trial in their weekend fixture against Bournemouth.
