Cameroon: Athlete Emmanuel Esseme came 6th in his debut race at the World Athletic Indoor Championship that held in the United Kingdom on Friday, March 01, 2024.
As per the sources, Emmanuel Esseme covered the 60 meters track in 6.68 seconds in the finals whereas US sprinter Christian Coleman completed the race in 6.41 seconds and came first.
Esseme is known as the fastest man in Cameroon. He came second in the semi-finals and finished the race with a run time of 6.52 seconds. He was just one second behind the athlete who came first and finished the race in 6.51 seconds.

Reportedly, this is the first time Esseme has participated in an indoor Championship. Coleman came first, and Noah Lyles came second and won the silver medal.
Lyles completed the race in 6.44 seconds and said, “It was a great run.” He said, “Right up among my best runs, to run 6.44. I am also very impressed with myself. I have run three rounds today and what a great indoor season! The thing is this is the weakest part of my race.”
Noah Lyles also stated, “It feels like one of my best performances ‘6.44’, I am never going to be dissatisfied with that.”
He added that last year, he was running 6.51, and this year, he saw improvement and has put down multiple 6.4 seconds, which are not small 6.4s either.
“I’m deep into 6.4 territory and talking about 6.3 at some point,” said Lyles.
He further added that this is all with training that has not changed. It is so exciting because I finally get to do an outdoor season. “The 60m is not my favourite race but now you cannot say I’m not one of the ‘greats’ in this. I’m very excited for Paris as it has all my favourite events,” added Lyles.
To his win at the World Athletic Indoor Championship Christian Coleman expressed, “I had a lot of confidence in myself coming in. You have to feel confident in yourself. I set my mind on letting my body to do what I have been doing in practice and I came out by making a win.”
Coleman added that he can look forward to the rest of the summer, as he has so many things to work on and is just looking forward to these opportunities.
“When you get opportunities, you have got to take them,” mentioned US athlete Christian Coleman.
