Popular Camp Site ‘Camp Silwane’ in Zimbabwe has given a shoutout to the winners of the Wildlife Photographic Competition Award Show. The competition was hosted by Wildlife & Environment Zimbabwe (WEZ) and was held in February 2024.
Silwane praised photographer Gail Odendaal, who was recognised for the Best Mammal Photograph. She also won a two-night stay at Silwane Tented Camp. “We can’t wait to have you here with us, Gail!” said Camp Silwane.
Another photographer to whom Camp Silwane has given the shoutout is Ralph Stutchbury. The home photographer has won the prize for the Best Overall Photograph.
The award was given to the photographer for the stunning black and white (monochrome) photograph of three Zebras, taken at the Camp Silwane’s Somadada Platform in the Silwane Conservation Area.
Appreciating the achievement of Ralph Stutchbury, Camp Silwane wrote, “You might recognise Ralph’s name as he takes a lot of the lovely photos that we share on our social media!”
The camp site officials added, “We can’t wait to have Ralph visit us again at Silwane Tented Camp and see all the wonderful things he catches on film.”
They also expressed the desire to get some photography tips from the photographer and said, “hopefully he’ll be up for sharing some photography tips and tricks.”
“Well done to everyone that entered the competition, it’s always so much fun to see all the entries,” mentioned Camp Silwane.
Ralph Stutchbury and Gail Odendaal are well renowned wildlife photographers and both present their aesthetic vision through their artistic skills.
The photographers have built their name in the photography industry with numerous recognitions and hard work.
Camp Silwane will be a great platform for both photographers to nourish their skills and explore more that they can present in front of the world.
The tented camp site is an exciting place located in a stunning private, wildlife-rich conservation area adjacent to Hwange National Park.
Silwane Conservation Area is an innovative new project that transforms a hunting area into a protected and photographic safari area. It is one of the last truly great wilderness areas of Zimbabwe.
The initiative was commenced with a small group of conservationists with a passion for Hwange National Park and its surroundings. The individuals had a vision of transforming part of the hunting area, adjacent to the National Park, notably into a conservancy where wildlife is free to roam between the two.
