South Africa: Cape Town Air Access announces new direct route between Air Tanzania and Dar es Salaam and the Cape Town, that will begin from Dec 11, 2025.
The new direct route will operate the two flights per week on an Airbus A220-300, making it a triangular route between Dar es Salaam, Victoria Falls, Cap Town and again back to Dar es Salaam, which will offer improved connectivity for both leisure and business travellers.
This new service will travel through a new destination by Air Tanzania and will opens a gateway between Tanzania and Cape Town. The passengers can also connect via DAR to other sought after the destinations include Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Lagos and even Guangzhou in China, by strengthening the links of Cape Town across the continent and beyond.
The route strategically supports the travel demands and reflects the modernisation and expansion of African carriers. Launching this service during the peak season of the summer, they will further boost intra-African tourism, trade and investment.
Currently, Air Tanzania operates direct flights between Dar es Salaam (DAR) and Johannesburg (JNB), not directly to Cape Town (CPT) as a primary route but connects to South Africa and offers connections via Johannesburg for Cape Town travellers using their Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, by providing a vital link for tourism and trade with new services and expanding their continental reach.
Considering cape Town as their new route, Air Tanzania is focusing on expanding its footprint in Southern Africa by making a direct Cape Town route a logical future step, but it hasn’t been officially announced as of late 2025.
At present, people can get to Cape Town via connections in Johannesburg (JNB) or other hubs, as Air Tanzania aims to boost inter-Africa trade and travel. The purpose is to boost tourism and trade by strengthening the regional connectivity within Africa.
