Cape Town: Gabrielle Venter took the top honours at the 10th edition of the Standard Bank Ladies Open on Friday, March 15, 2024. The Cape Town Ladies Open concluded at the Royal Cape Golf Club and has been a proud tournament sponsor since its inception in 2015.
Reportedly, it is the first major title of Gabrielle Venter from Bloemfontein that she fiercely finished with France’s Emie Peronnin and Scottish golfer Kylie Henry.
As per the sources, the 20-year-old beat out 63 golf players from South Africa and 15 other countries who took part in the 2024 edition of the Standard Bank Ladies Open.
Since its inception, the tournament has hosted more than 700 golfers, including professionals and amateurs who have launched their careers on the tour.

Considerably, the prize money for the event has increased from R100,000 in 2015 to R600,000 in 2024. The city currently has a three-year agreement to support the Standard Bank Ladies Open until the 2015-26 financial year.
The Sunshine Ladies Tour allowed amateur and professional golfers to perform on an international stage with an eight-tournament season over three months.
Moreover, Cape Town will host the season-closing tournament on the tour. The Investec Women’s Open, which took place at the Erinvale Golf Course, will commence from April 25, 2024, to April 28, 2024.
On the last day of the Women’s Open, as part of the CSI programme, disabled young golfers will be invited to watch and take putting and chipping lessons with professional golfers.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith has said that some of the incredible work behind the scenes has solidified the City’s support for the Ladies Open over the years, including the development of young amateur golfers.
The Ladies upskilled caddies, and the tournament under the Sunshine Ladies Tour has helped promote Cape Town to a global audience.
“We are looking forward to continuing the partnership with the tour into the future,” said JP Smith.
Notably, the Sunshine Ladies Tour was at the forefront of elevating the status of women’s golf to a professional level and providing these athletes with a platform to compete on an international stage.
According to records, in the last decade, the tour has attracted competitors from Europe, Asia, and North America, which has provided a tough matchup for golfers looking to step up at the next level.
