Cape Town: Popular Mayor’s Craft Market promises a variety of products and services as it is making return to the Cape Town Civic Centre. The market will be observed next week on Thursday, April 03, 2025 and Friday, April 04, 2025. It is a locally handmade and pre-packaged goods that will be for sale on the concourse level of the Cape Town Civic Centre.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services – Alderman Theresa Uys said that they are quite pleased to welcome the crafters back to the second 2025 market.
In February, the City of Cape Town staff came out in large numbers to connect and support the artisans. It is quite convenient to have a variety of products and offerings available all in one place. This market is a powerful platform for promoting social cohesion and generating income to support families and build small businesses.
Uys also mentioned about the support they received over the years that has been greatly appreciated and they look forward to visit each stand next week.
Moreover, the Mayor’s Craft Market is an essential part of the Mayor’s Skills Development and Poverty Alleviation Programme and it offers registered vendors a free opportunity to sell their goods to City of Cape Town staff, as well as members of the public are visiting the Cape Town Civic Centre.
The impact of the market on local livelihoods, since it is the first run in September 2010, that has been profound. The services and products are sold at the market vary from savouries, jewellery, knitwear, chocolates, nuts, skin care, bedding, duvets, succulent pot plants, leather goods and shoes to name a few. More than 40 crafters exhibit on the market days.
