Cape Town Pride Festival will soon come to an end and will conclude this coming weekend with the annual Cape Town Pride Parade and Mardi Gras. The City of Cape Town, supported and hosted several events under the festival over the past month.
The Cape Town Pride Parade and Mardi Gras will be the culmination of a month-long pride festival celebrating the diversity, inclusion and raising awareness regarding LGBTIQ+. The pride parade will take place on Saturday, March 01, 2025. It is an occasion where allies, family and friends come together as a community for Africa’s biggest parade, while celebrating LGBTIQ+ awareness, diversity and inclusivity.
Outreach Africa organised the procession, that began in De Waterkant’s Alfred Street at 11:00 a.m. paving its way to the Green Point underpass via Somerset Road. The Pride Parade and Mardi Gras is free to join for everyone.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the Cape Town Pride has been shining as a platform for raising awareness, educating and advocating for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, not only in the country but also across the entire continent.
Smith explained that the support for Cape Town Pride by the City of Cape Town is the commitment to building an inclusive city, home to a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, creed ethnicities and even sexual orientation.
He mentioned that they are looking forward to welcome the thousands who will be taking part in the parade this coming weekend to show support for an important cause.
As per scheduled annually, the parade will be followed by the Pride Mardi Gras, as the final event of the 2025 Pride Festival calendar. It will take place at Green Point A-Track, as the event will start at 11:00 a.m. and will run until 9:00 p.m. Tickets for the same will be available at Quicket.
There will be a village of stalls selling LGBTQIA+ goodies, food and drinks along with bars, refreshments stations, a children’s area and chill-out areas.
However, with an exciting lineup of local entertainers, the event will also include performances by Jimmy Nervis, Cee Vee, 3 Tons of Fun, Craig Lucas and Jarrad Rickets hitting the stage. The Pride Mardi Gras is the perfect send off for a Pride Festival that has hosted more than 30 events in the last month.
Over the past month, the Outreach Africa has hosted a series of events under the Cape Town Pride Festival banner, including a seminar on Testicular Cancer, the crowning of the new Mr and Miss Cape Town Pride 2025 and a book night aimed at encouraging literacy.
According to the details, the Cape Town Pride Parade will be observed on Saturday, March 01, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The gathering take place from Preswitch Street Primary School, Alfred Street, De Waterkant, where the residents and motorists are advised of rolling road closures along Somerset Road and Green Point Main Road from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
