Cape Town Carnival is an iconic street parade that uniquely combines the entertainment, cultural enrichment, along with community spirit and celebration for all ages, every year.
The Kaapstad Karnaval by Lekker, has showcased mind blowing creativity and talent. The official page dedicated only to the related posts of the carnival have shared the glimpses of the event.
In the official post shared by the Cape Town Carnival, they expressed that it was the magic of collaboration when over 40 Cape Town based community groups come together. 1500 performers from all ages and backgrounds have collaborated with the sponsors and hard-working crew, staff, media partners and vendors.
They worked together for a common goal that is to bring the exquisite entertainment and one night that no one can forget.
On Saturday, March 16, 2024, it was a first-class night at the Cape Town Carnival in Green Point. The Lekker Cape Town Carnival hit the schweet spot as thousands of the visitors and locals joined together on Green Point’s Fan Walk and presented spectacular dance and music performances with the unique charm of the Mother City.
The carnival brought the mind-blowing floats, sensational costumes and a festive atmosphere that the event showcase with the creativity and spirit of Cape Town.
The main parade of the Karnaval was preceded by a parade of the city and province’s services that included the EMS workers, LEAP officers and the smoking hot City firefighters.
Stressing upon the success of the event, Chairperson of the Cape Town Carnival Professor Rachel Jafta said, “As always the firefighters are here and they have become such an institution.”
“The initiative began with us wanting to say ‘thank you’ to the service people for what they do for the people of Cape Town and they were an instant hit with the spectators,” said Jafta.
The Cape Town Carnival Trustee – Anton Liebenberg also expressed that the Cape Town Carnival is truly significant for everyone involved. The spectators are here to simply enjoy a lekker evening and just have a good time.
“We have 1550 performers and each of them comes from a different cultural background. They will all go home with a story, a family that is proud of them and themselves being proud for participating in a really world-class event,” said Liebenberg.
Many associated artists have shared the snippets on their part and shared their versions of the Cape Town Carnival. Some have shared the pictures and some have narrated their moments at the Carnival.
