Renowned travel magazine of UK ‘Time Out’ recognised Cape Town and voted it no. 1 city in the world. The Mother City has topped the annual list of the Best Cities in the World of the publication.
As per Time Out Magazine, 82% of Capetonians described the city as beautiful and 97% of the locals said that it makes them happy.
Considering this honour, City of Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis also expressed his happiness through a video and captioned it, “TimeOut has ranked Cape Town the Best City in the World for 2025!”

Lewis extended his gratitude to the UK travel publication and tagged them on Instagram saying, “Thanks to @timeouttravel!” He added, “This will bring more tourists to the city and more jobs for Capetonians.”
While recognising Cape Town as no.1 among the Best Cities in the World, Time out revealed in their report that Cape Town is a very amazing place to visit by asking everyone, “Where else can you visit a colony of African penguins, taste world-class wines, stroll Blue Flag beaches, enjoy views from one of the New 7 Wonders of nature and experience vibrant nightlife – all in a day?”
Cape Town offers many more things, comprising of historic sites to cultural hubs whether that is fishing heritage of Kalk Bay or food scene of East City. Time Out Market of Cape Town and Cape Point’s natural beauty is the most captivating.

Other than this, Cape Town is famous for paragliding in the shadow of Table Mountain which makes a very different way to see the city. the visitors can go on a wine safari and on a band-new trip through the Durbanville Wine Valley, a proper place for foodie adventurers. One can also head to the V&A Waterfront for tasting a range of unique South African flavours.
This year, in 2025 more than 18,500 city-dwellers shared their insights on everything from food, nightlife and culture to affordability, happiness and the overall city vibe.
When urban living can sometimes feel isolating and costly, in 2025 Time Out wanted to get a sense of what, exactly makes a city feel like home. Absolutely, the nightlife is great but is the city safe and walkable? Is quality of food and art available and accessible at a reasonable price? Is it easy to make friends, find love and access nature? These were some points which were included while examining the cities.

Livability was another key factor, included in ranking this year. As Cape Town is a great city to live in and naturally a great city to visit too. So, along with the thousands of responses from locals around the world, they asked Time Out’s global network of city experts to vote on the places they think are particularly exciting right now.
And after crunching all the data, Time Out’s definitive ranking of the world’s best cities in 2025 was finally prepared.
