Cape Town: Tourism economy of the city increases as over 30 million travellers visited to the Table Mountain. Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos announced this good news on Dec 17, 2025 ahead of the Christmas festival.
James Vos congratulated the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company for this achievement and said that he would like to congratulate the company on reaching the milestone of welcoming total 33 million visitors. This is a significant achievement that highlights the enduring appeal of one of the most important assets of Cape Town.
He stated that Table Mountain is far more than an iconic backdrop. It is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature and is central to Cape Town’s destination value proposition and is a major contributor to the tourism economy.
Table Mountain has constantly remained one of the top reasons that travellers choose Cape Town. It is a powerful driver of visitors and supports jobs in several sectors consisting of hospitality, transport, guiding services and small businesses throughout the city.
Vos expressed that he had the privilege of experiencing Table Mountain many times over the years and what stands out is how it continues to impress both locals and first-time visitors. This remained a shared point of pride for Capetonians and a must-see attraction for international travellers. Also, it is a combination that few destinations in the world can claim.
He earmarked that upon reaching this milestone during a strong festive season reflects growing confidence in Cape Town as a destination and the effectiveness of the collective efforts to promote the city globally while ensuring that the visitors enjoy safe and high-quality experiences.
