Cape Town: A tragedy has happened with a young boy aged seven who died in a train accident. The authorities have begun with investing the circumstances occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
Reportedly, the young victim was playing with his friends on the railway track in Area Central which is situated between Nyanga and Heideveld. The accident was observed at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
As per the reports presented by the police spokesperson – Malcolm Pojie, the seven-year-old boy was fatally wounded by a train that was in transit from Cape Town when the accident took place.
Moreover, the Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, prompting the Manenberg SAPS to open a inquest docket to facilitate a thorough investigation into the incident.
Police Spokesperson Pojie further stated that the circumstances formed a part of the ongoing investigation, that highlighted the need for a comprehensive understanding of how the tragedy unfolded.
The Western Cape Passenger Railway Agency of South Africa (Prasa) – Zinobulali Mihi also presented their opinion and commented on the incident to the Cape Argus and indicated that their Protection Services Department was alerted to the tragic event on Tuesday.
According to a detailed information by Mihi, the minor was struck by a train while crossing the railway line. They are currently gathering more information as this unfolds. Prasa reported that this is a heart-breaking event that starkly contrasts the recent incident, wherein a brave mother gave birth to a healthy baby aboard the iSitimela Sabantu – The People’s Train in Cape Town just a week prior.
