Cape Town: The ‘Two Oceans Marathon’ week is back and will be observed from April 08 to 12, 2026. The event will deliver five days of activities and will attract over 30,000 athletes in the Mother City. This is a logistics guide for all things related to the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon.
Two Oceans Marathon programme week will include the 55th edition of the TotalSports Two Oceans Marathon, Half Marathon, Trail Run and the International Friendship Run. It all will kick off with the Expo and Race Pack collection taking place at CTICC-2.
With over 100 exhibitors, the Expo is a one-stop-shop for runners to collect their race packs, explore the latest in running gear, tech and equipment, stock up on race nutrition and get the best advice on navigating their race.
The expo and race pack collection will run daily between 09:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. until Friday and will operate until 05:00 p.m. on Saturday for Half Marathon runners only.
On Thursday, April 09, 2026 the Cape Town International Friendship Run will be observed. It is a celebration of the global running community, that will once again see hundreds of visiting runners take to the streets of the Atlantic Seaboard from the DHL Stadium Forecourt through Mouille Point and finish again in Green Point.
Notably, the race weekend will feature the two headline events. On Saturday, April 11, 2026 – the Ultra Marathon will take runners on its iconic 56 km journey through the Southern Suburbs, False Bay coastline, Chapman’s Peak and Constantia, finishing at the foot of Table Mountain at the University of Cape Town.
The Half Marathon will close out the marathon week on Sunday, April 12, 2026 with a 21.1 km route through the Southern Suburbs, culminating at UCT Rugby Field.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith stated that annually, the marathon week attracts over 30,000 participants to this prestigious event, including over 4500 international runners from 98 countries in 2025 who spent over a week in Cape Town, and contributed meaningfully to the local economy.
As they welcomed thousands of runners and visitors, they are reminded of the Two Oceans Marathon’s role in strengthening Cape Town as a leading destination for sport and active lifestyle tourism, while showcasing the capability as a world-class host of major events.
