The City of Cape Town is organising Africa’s largest art fair to introduce a creative side of the town. The legislative capital of South Africa has partnered with the Investec Cape Town Art Fair to celebrate the art and culture.
The Investec Cape Town Art Fair is the largest art fair organised in Africa, that brings the international art world together. The Cape Town Art Fair will be observed at CTICC from Feb 16, 2024 to Feb 18, 2024.
Reportedly, the art fair will feature more than 375 artists from four continents and over 100 leading galleries will participate. The art fair will conduct 24 events across various venues for three days.
As per the sources, the carnival will showcase the artistic experience of various fine artists through high quality exhibitions. The event will also feature discussions, awards, and tours by which vibrant art and culture of Cape Town will be explored.
Notably, this is the eleventh edition of the annual art fair with the theme ‘Unbound’. The art fair will also focus on emerging diverse ‘unbound’ voices as a catalyst for the creation of new possibilities.
The collaboration with Investec Cape Town provides young artists an opportunity to exhibit their work at the art fair who are also a part of the City’s Arts and Culture Emerging Artist Programme.
The budding artists will also get the opportunity to network with the industry experts and get the inside track on the business side of the art world and access resources to enhance their career in the chosen sector.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith has stated that the Cape Town prides itself as a city for creatives and culture with an abundance of talent in the sector.
He added, “The City’s objective is to always provide platforms that celebrates this creativity and cultural heritage while also providing platforms for the artists to showcase their work.”
JP Smith said that the partnership with the Cape Town Art Fair is premised on providing developmental opportunities for those creatives, supporting emerging artists and contributing to the growth of the broader creative industries.
He mentioned that the City of Cape Town also welcomes the contribution this event has made to the local economy over the last eleven years and they are looking forward to a continuation of the partnership in the year 2024.
