Zimbabwe: The young chef Makanaka Ganyaupfu is all set to represent her nation at the Young Chef Olympiad 2024 in Delhi, India. The 19-year-old girl is scheduled to battle it out for honours at the 10th edition of the contest in the country India next week.
The country continues to advance in culinary arts as young Ganyaupfu takes her cooking skills to India, where she will join a total of 60 chefs from different countries between the ages of 18 and 24 to earn the best chef award in the contest.
Chef Ganyaupfu is confident to bring the title home after months of continuous preparation.
Talking about her participation in the contest the young girls said, “I am so happy to represent the country. I did practice a lot of the recipes and I am well prepared for this competition.”
She added, “I love cooking very much and it’s a passion and I know I will do my best. We are leaving this Sunday and will be grouped for the first round.”
Reportedly, Zimbabwe is placed in group-c to compete alongside Indonesia, Netherlands, Singapore, England, Madagascar, Seychelles, Uganda and Bangladesh for the first round.
As per the sources, only ten countries will qualify for the grand finale in the Young Chef Olympiad 2024.

The World Culinary Competition is organised by the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, beginning from Jan 29, 2024, to Feb 4, 2024.
The culinary contest is a celebration of the multicultural diversity of food from across the borders. It will be held across six cities of India that is in Delhi, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
The Youth Chef Olympiad 2024 will feature student chefs from over 60 countries, including France, England, Singapore, the USA, Spain, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, China, and others.
Bengaluru will host students from the Philippines, UAE, Kenya, Nepal, Fiji, Turkey, Mexico, Sweden, Mauritius, and Bulgaria. In contrast, Hyderabad will host students from Malaysia, Jordan, Iran, Luxembourg, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Maldives, Armenia, Ireland, and Ethiopia.
The IIHM Young Chef Olympiad 2024 is organised to embrace the theme of sustainability, supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It promotes culinary youth diplomacy in its own way to promote unity and inclusivity across the globe.
