Zambia: The police force of Chifunabuli District in Luapula Province has received reports of a stabbing incident. The victim, identified as Lewis Katuta of Bwacha Village and was stabbed in the abdomen by his wife.
The incident happened after the couple was engaged in a marital dispute. The victim’s wife has been identified as Agness Chilufya. The officials received the reports of the incident were received through the victim’s daughter.
District Commissioner Stanley Mukosa confirmed the incident to the media in a statement. The District Commissioner also identified the victim as a resident of Bwacha Village.
Mukosa said the incident happened on February 27, 2024 around 03:00 hours following a marital dispute between the victim and the suspect. The District commissioner spoke to the media and discussed the specifics of the incident.
“I can confirm that Police in Chifunabuli received a report of unlawful wounding.”
A 15-year-old girl reported the incident on behalf of the father, claiming that he was stabbed in the stomach with a knife.”
“Brief facts in the matter are that on February 26, 2024 at around 16:00hours, the victim went to his bar in Lubwe Main Market where the victim works. After working, he went home late around 02:00 hours and upon reaching picked a quarrel with his wife. The couple started fighting and, in the process, the wife stabbed him in the stomach and went outside to call for help,” he explained.
District Commissioner Mukosa said neighbours rushed to help the victim who sustained a deep cut with intestines almost coming out. He was rushed to Lubwe Mission Hospital where he received the initial treatment.
The victim was later referred to Mansa General Hospital for further in-depth treatment of his wounds. The police has not made any arrests into the matter. The suspect is the one nursing the Victim in the Hospital.
Meanwhile Chifunabuli Police have opened the investigations in the criminal offense.
