Zambia: Chinsali District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Katele Kalale has asked the teachers to ensure the school health programme is implemented according to the guidelines. He administration has been working hard to make sure that all the students can get access to quality healthcare,
The school health programme is dedicated to the students who are coming from the vulnerable families. So far, the programme has been successful in providing essential health facilities to students who could not in other situations access these facilities
The success of the programme is heavily reliant on the support from the school administration and teachers. The education board secretary has, as such called for the teachers of the district to extend their support to the programme
Kalale explained that there cannot be quality education when many learners cannot attend classes. The absenteeism is most often a consequence of sickness which can now be treated through a school health programme.
Several schools in Chinsali District have already started benefitting from the programme. Notably, having a medical wing or medical room has already shown a significant positive impact on the students
The government has introduced school health program to several educational organizations. The authorities have been getting technical support from healthy learners.
The government has been providing medicinal and related support to schools across the district. At a similar distribution event, Kalale was urging teachers in various schools to work with the government.
At the time when he made this request, the Chinsali District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Katele Kalale was flagging off the distribution of medical and non-medical supplies.
The distribution exercise was held at Lameck Primary School in Chinsali District.
Meanwhile, a school health teacher Mercy Navile at Mshishi Primary School in Chinsali District shared the success story of the programme. He said that since the inception of the programme, they have been recording positive progress among the students.
More children are able to come to school more regularly due to the implementation of the programme
