Cape Town: Jobs Connect lists out the opportunities for artisans at the Municipality. The research indicated many job seekers who face significant financial hurdles during their job search process.
The City of Cape Town is proud to announce that Jobs Connect, the flagship workforce development programme by the city has been activated to find suitable candidates for jobs within the municipal government.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth – Alderman James Vos stated that this speaks to the exact reason why he tasked Economic Growth Directorate officials with creating the initiative, as they believe in finding work that should be easier, more accessible and more affordable for all Capetonians.
Reportedly, the research indicated that many job seekers face significant financial hurdles during their job search process from transport costs to printing CVs. The data-free Jobs Connect programme greatly reduces many of these obstacles by providing a free platform that directly links job seekers with the employers.
Since its launch, over 100,000 people have registered, by gaining access to employment and training opportunities. Now, the platform is expanding its impact by sourcing skilled artisans to fill critical roles within the City of Cape Town.
Notably, the successful candidates will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs and installations in their area of expertise, ensuring its compliance with safety regulations, conducting inspections and contributing to infrastructure development projects.
Considering this, Alderman James Vos said that the success of Jobs Connect speaks for itself. Since year 2021, total of 4600 individuals secured entry-level work placements, 4495 individuals benefitted from educational, learnership and apprenticeship placements, 3200 voluntary and graduate placements were facilitated and 300 individuals with disabilities were placed in meaningful work opportunities.
They are excited to extend the programme for the benefit of artisans both who are presently working at the City of Cape Town and those who are eager to do so, added James Vos.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services – Alderman Theresa Uys stated that the City of Cape Town congratulates the Job Connect programme for its impactful work. It is a fantastic opportunity for them all to secure a stable and rewarding career in public service, in contributing to the projects that will benefit Cape Town communities. She encouraged all the eligible artisans to apply and take advantage of the valuable opportunity.
