Cape Town: The City of Cape Town is offering a variety of programmes and activities for women in the community at some of the provided facilities. The programmes and activities ranges from fitness classes to the spaces for women, with the concept of engaging in community matters.
Reportedly, the Women’s programmes is some of City’s sport and recreation facilities host programmes and activities designed for women, especially living in the community.
Some of the activities include are Bonteheuwel Walking Ladies, Ladies Keep Fit Power Hour and The Housewives Club.
Bonteheuwel Walking Ladies
The Bonteheuwel Walking Ladies, is an activity that includes a group of community members who get together at the Bonteheuwel Multipurpose Centre to exercise together.
The group usually walks in the area, but also arranges the visits to various beaches and Kirstenbosch Gardens. The Bonteheuwel Multipurpose Centre also organises aerobics classes for the ladies, along with the talks from different organisations, such as the Saartjie Baartman Centre.

Ladies Keep Fit Power Hour
This activity includes intensive one-hour fitness class, which is a great way for women to burn calories, get their hearts racing and have fun.

The Housewives Club
The Housewives Club is a space for women from the community to gather and discuss what is happening in their lives and in their community. Women of all ages are welcome here to participate.

South Africa is celebrating Women’s Month in August 2024, to honour the women who marched to the Union Buildings on August 09, 1956 to protest the extension of Pass Laws to women.
Notably, the march was a turning point in the role of women in the fight for freedom and society. The month also highlights the struggles and triumphs of women in South Africa.
It also provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the generations of women who have laid the foundation for progress towards gender equality.
