Copper queens hailed for performance in Leg 1 qualifiers

Zambia: The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Andrew Kamanga, has congratulated the Copper Queens for their victory over Uganda. The queens were able to secure a two-to-nil victory over their Ugandan opponents.

They have successfully won the third round of the First leg of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to be hosted in 2027 and the qualifiers for the world cup have started.

The Copper Queens or the Women’s Football Team of Zambia has been performing well in the qualifier stage of the event. They are being applauded for their remarkable performance during the qualifiers by their fans and admirers.

The President of the Football Association of Zambia also shared his advice with the copper queens through his weekly soccer column. Kamanga urged the team to maintain composure as they approach the second leg.

They will be playing their next match in Uganda on Friday and will have a number of youngters, fans and admirers pinning their hopes in the team.

President Andrew Kamanga encouraged the young players to seek inspiration from the Copper Queens. The Zambian senior women’s team has been performing well for the duration of the well in the previous games.

The Women’s FIFA World Cup is one of the biggest and most anticipated event in the longstanding history of the sport. The first leg of the Africa Qualifiers has successfully concluded with Zambia moving on to the next round

The victorious team over the two legs will advance to face either Morocco or Algeria in the final qualifying round. Kamanga expressed his gratitude to the thousands of fans who filled the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka to support the team.

He also called on the fans to show the same enthusiasm when the Senior Men’s team competes against Tanzania in a World Cup qualifier scheduled for 11th June, 2024, in Ndola.

In addition, Kamanga acknowledged FAZ Patron, President Hakainde Hichilema, for his presence at the 2024 ABSA Cup final on Sunday, marking the third consecutive year he has attended the event.
