Zambia: Defender player of Copper Queens and Green Buffaloes, Lushomo Mweemba joins the Kazakhstani soccer club BIIK Kazygurt. She becomes the first Zambian female player to make a deal with any international club.
Lushomo Mweemba has signed the deal for 18 months with the 16 times Kazakhstani Champions BIIK Kazygurt. She will join her country mates Martha Tembo and Ireen Lungu, who ply their trade in that country.
Considering her achievement, the club stated that the Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club would like to announce the departure of defender Lushomo Mweemba who has joined the Kazakhstani club ‘BIIK Shymkent’.
The club added that this came after a deal was agreed between Green Buffaloes and BIIK Shymkent, and since then, she has travelled this afternoon to Kazakhstan to join her new teammates.

The soccer club continued its statement and said, “Mweemba, who was our vice-captain has signed a two-year contract with the club. As Green Buffaloes would like to thank her for the dedication she has shown towards the team and wishes her well for her future endeavours.”
Mweemba has a record to her name for being the first Zambian to score in a senior World Cup match.
Reportedly, she will team up with her countrymen, defender Martha Tembo and midfielder Ireen Lungu in Shymkent.
Many Copper Queens players have come up through BIIK and played for it, which includes Racheal Kundananji, Grace Chanda, Prisca Chilufya and Hellen Chanda who have all played for the 16th time Kazakhstani Champions.
Copper Queens, the Zambia women’s national association football team represents Zambia in association football, that participates in qualifying tournaments for the FIFA Women’s World Cup and other African based competitions or matches.
Lushomo Mweemba has played as a defender for Green Buffaloes WFC and the Zambia women’s national team. She became the first Zambian to score a goal at World Cup.
Copper Queens’ soccer player competed for Zambia at the 2018, 2022, and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups.
