Kenya: Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Creative Economy, Ababu Namwamba recently visited the Talanta Sports City. The aim of the visit was to check on the progress of the construction that is currently in progress.
The Talenta Sports City is one of the most important projects for the Kenyan government in light of the upcoming AFCON 2027. The country is co-hosting the continental sporting event with some other African nations.
CS Namwamba was satisfied with the progress of the construction initiative. He shared some glimpses from the event on his social media.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the construction for the Talenta Sports City had started only recently. “The initiative was commissioned barely a fortnight ago” claimed the CS.
He was also present at the Commissioning ceremony alongside several other critical government officials. The President of Kenya, William Ruto had commissioned the construction project.
The Cabinet Secretary expressed confidence that the construction will be completed by 2025, before the CAF inspection.
Reflecting on the progress, Ababu Namwamba said he is confident that the work will be completed within the timeline. The officials are happy with the project’s pace.
According to the CS, The project is being implemented in stages. This is done to ensure each aspect is constructed flawlessly and on time.
During his trip, Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba highlighted that the government is committed to strictly follow planned construction. Further, the officials have also ensure that the project will have regular high-level inspections to monitor progress.
Talenta Sports City is expected to increase the capacity of the country’s sports sector. More and more youngsters of the country are being encouraged to pursue sports as their career. Kenya is one of the top nations in Africa when it comes to sports and creative talent.
Talenta Hela is the Kenyan government’s flagship programme to ensure that the youngsters can make their talent and creative prowess into a flourishing career. The construction of the Talenta Sports City also falls under this category.
