Nigeria: The Nigerian Bar Association, Degema Branch has announced they are starting the Customary Court sessions in Buguma. The team was led by Barrister Victor Amachree and is dedicated to the welfare of the Local Government Area.
The country’s administration is also pleased with the development, as it will help the Local Government Area deliver justice more timely.
The Customary Court will commence its sessions in Buguma, on Monday, 8th April 2024. The city serves as the head of Asari Toru Local Government Area. The The Nigerian Bar Association, Degema Branch made the announcement during an inspection visit.
The team was present in Buguma to check on the progress of the temporary facility for the Customary Court. The visit was headed and overseen by the Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
Onengiyeofori George also accompanied the representatives from the Buguma Internal Affairs Society (BIAS) to the inspection visit. During the visit, the Executive Chairman of the Asari Toru Local Government Area made a significant announcement about the facility.
Onengiyeofori George shared plans for the construction of permanent Magistrate and Customary courts in the LGA. The local government administration shared the glimpses from the event and also showed the temporary facility.
The Executive Chairman assured the Nigerian Bar Association of the AsalgaFirst Administration’s unwavering commitment to their cause. He said that they are dedicated to working on promoting peace, law, and order in the LGA.
Accordingly, he pledged his complete and unwavering support to the Bar Association to help them work. He claimed that the council will provide the necessary resources for the smooth functioning of the Customary Court in the LGA.
The commencement of Customary Court sessions in Buguma marks a significant milestone that will provide relief to litigants. Cases involving chieftaincy, land disputes, marital affairs, and other matters will now be addressed within the LGA. This development is a positive step towards ensuring justice and resolving disputes in the community.
