The Debswana Diamond Company hosted the meeting on November 15, at the Jweneng Mine. The meeting was a part of the Members of Parliaments’ onboarding program after they were elected
The meeting gave the MPs the idea of what organizations they will be working with. The Debswana officers gave the MPs comprehensive tour of the Jweneng Mine and told them about its importance
The government of the Botswana has been working with the company for several decades.
The visit aimed to give the members of the parliament an understanding of the company’s operations. The company gave the newly elected representatives of the people the opportunity to learn about their workings.
The company wanted to make sure that the Members of the Parliament understand and appreciate the work that is done at the company. The MPs were given some information about the diamond market, insights into current and future projects of Debswana.
The company gave the members of the cabinet of Botswaa an overview of the company’s contributions to national development. This initiative wanted to improve the cabinet members’ understanding of Debswana’s work and its affect on the growth of Botswana.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Dithapelo Keorapetse led the delegation of MPs who attended the meeting. The deligation of Ministers was given a warm reception by Debswana’s Managing Director, Andrew Motsomi.
The company’s members of his Executive Committee were also present at the meeting. This engagement enabled direct interaction between the MPs and Debswana’s leadership.
The meeting helped in promoting a meaningful exchange of ideas and perspectives between government and Debswana. They gained better understanding of the strategic working of Debswana.
