Department of Social Development celebrates National Disability Month & Men’s day

South Africa: Bopanang Stimulation Centre in partnership with the Department of Social Development Thabo Mofutsanyana District (Disability Programme), Department of Health, Department of Education, Eye for all and Disability Community Based Ogarnisations within Maluti-A- Phofung municipality and Phumelela municipality celebrated National Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM 2022) earlier today.

Disability Awareness Month gives an opportunity for all to remove barriers and enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.

The event was honoured by children with disabilities and their parents under the theme:

“Empowering Persons with disabilities Through resourceful, sustainable and safe environment.”

The key message delivered was one of encouragement to parents raising children with disabilities. It is through loving parents such as these that children with disabilities accept and love themselves, with some growing up to be independent and achieving great things.

And on the same day department also celebrated Men’s day with the department of Social Development, Fezile Dabi district, Parys office, Substance Abuse programme commemorated International Men’s day at Schonkenville hall at Tumahole, Parys.

International Men’s day is celebrated every year on November 19 to celebrate the positive value men bring to the world and communities.

The celebration of Men’s day celebrated under the theme “Helping men and boys”, stakeholders including the Department of Education, Ngwathe Local municipality, Faith Based Organisations, Youth organisations and the Men’s Sector, gathered together to celebrate men’s life achievements and contributions in the society and their families. Furthermore, the event aimed to promote basic awareness towards men’s issues.
