Malawi: Design Outreach, a Christian organization operational in several nations has extended a helping hand to families in Balaka. The officials have shared that the donation has helped over 1000 families in Sub Traditional Authority Nyanyala afford food.
The officials have shared that the NGO has donated several food items to the communities to combat food shortages. The organization had also made a similar donation to the community in July.
Operations Manager for Design Outreach Titus Nnesa was present at the handover of the donated items. She reflected on the significance of the donation. She said that it is their responsibility as Christians to extend a helping hand.
The officials have shared that their donation was meant to support the families who have not been able to afford three meals a day. The officials have acknowledged that food is one of basic necessities of life which needs to be addressed.
The officials have shared that the donations are being supported by partners in the USA. The district is facing a severe food crisis in the district currently.
According to the Disaster Risk Management office in Balaka, more than 50, 000 families are struggling with the crisis. The officers are grateful that Design Outreach has come to the district for the second time in the year.
They recalled that the organization had also helped the region with food donations in July. The administration of the Christian NGO has claimed that they want to make a real difference within the community.
This is the reason why the organization returned to the Sub Traditional Authority Nyanyala for the second time. The Operations Manager for Design Outreach said that the support will help in curbing all the issues that the nation is facing currently.
The families who were given the support material have expressed their sincere gratitude to the NGO. All the families received a 20-kilogram bag of maize flour, two kilograms soya flour, two kilogram beans, ten packets of soya pieces, one kilogram of salt and one liter of cooking oil.
In total, the donation made by the organization was worth k52 Million. The organization also hosted a spiritual session.
