Botswana: The Commissioner of Police, Dinah Marathe met the doctors working with the Botswana Police Service. The meeting was hosted in the form of a meet and greet session on Tuesday at the Police headquarters in Gaborone.

The Police service has shared several pictures from the meet and greet session. The meeting emphasized the Commissioner’s dedication to working with all the teams within the police service.

The officials of the Botswana Police Service shared that the medical doctors and forensic experts play a crucial role in the effectiveness of the crime management of the team. The Commissioner of Police, Dinah Marathe also emphasized the importance of forensic evidence in police investigations.

The Commissioner also reflected on the aim of the meeting. She said that through the meet and greet, she wanted to make herself familiar with the operational environment of BPS.

During this meet and greet, the assembled stakeholders discussed the various challenges that the service has encountered. They also celebrated the achievements of the team in the and explore ways to strengthen internal collaborations.

The Commissioner asserted that this way, they can improve service that the BPS gives to thee people that come to the officers seeking help. Further, Commissioner Marathe recognised the doctors’ immeasurable contribution to the effectiveness of their efforts.

The Commissioner noted that not only do they help with investigations but also play a vital role in ensuring a healthy workforce by diagnosing and providing medical intervention to police officers.  She applauded them for continuing to offer a selfless and effective service despite the adverse psychological challenges of their work.

Lastly, the Commissioner implored the officials of the BPS to align themselves with the newly adopted BPS pledge. She recollected the pledge “Let the Voice of the Customer Lead you” during the meet and greet, asserting that the organization strives to provide customer-centric service.
