Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados

Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, received a courtesy call from UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq. He paid his visit on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, received a courtesy call from UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq. He paid his visit on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq, was accompanied by Renata Clarke, FAO Sub-regional Coordinator; Laura Hildebrandt, UNDP Head of Dominica Project Office; and Marlon Marie, UN Country Coordination Officer for Dominica.

In the meeting, they discussed the development assistance in preparation for the Government of Dominica – United Nations co-hosted Development Partners Meeting being held today, March 29, 2023. The meeting was headed by the PM of the Commonwealth of Dominica, during which PM Roosevelt Skerrit put light on the significant development agenda of the government.

The United Nations Resident Coordinators Office for Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean is leading the roundtable discussion with the ultimate goal of strengthening the tripartite relationship among the Government of Dominica, Development Partners and the United Nations.

During the meeting, they also discussed several critical issues related to the country’s development. One of the focuses of PM Roosevelt Skerrit remained on ascertaining the best developmental avenues for the people of his country. According to the government, PM Skerrit also emphasized bringing the international community closer.

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and his government gathered praise for conducting such a meeting with the international delegations. Many people and social media users took it to the comment section and lauded Dr Skerrit for being a leader for the people of Dominica. Prior to this meeting, PM Roosevelt Skerrit had a fruitful interaction with the newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary to the Commonwealth of Dominica – Balazs Heincz. During the meeting, Ambassador Heincz presented his credentials to President Charles A Savarin.
