South Africa: President of United States of America – Donald Trump said that he may not attend the G20 Summit in South Africa that is supposed to be observed in the month of November.
Trump stated a reason which is harsh to accept for not attending the 2025 summit. He accused South Africa of seizing land from White Farmers. Considering which he also suspended and cut off the financial aid to South Africa in February 2025.
Furthermore, USA also expelled the South African Ambassador – Ebrahim Rasool over ‘race baiting’ in March 2025. US Secretary of State – Marco Rubio, also did not attended the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in South Africa in February.
Referring to this, US President Donald Trump mentioned in his official tweet that, “How could we be expected to go to South Africa for the very important G20 Meeting when Land Confiscation and Genocide is the primary topic of conversation?”
He highlighted in his tweet, “They are taking the land of White Farmers, and then killing them and their families. The Media refuses to report on this.”
“The United States has held back all contributions to South Africa. Is this where we want to be for the G20? I don’t think so!” marked Donald Trump.

Trump’s comments made on social media, ignited tensions between the two nations and were met with criticism from political groups in South Africa.
Currently, South Africa is holding the presidency of the G20, that has brought together the leaders from the world’s major economies for discussions on global issues.
As per the sources, relations between Pretoria and Washington have sourced under Trump’s leadership, with the US president, as they previously accused South Africa of implementing anti-white policies.
To this statement released by Trump, South African President – Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson responded that the country is “no longer expecting him to attend the summit in any case.”
