Migori County, Kenya: Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) hosted an education forum to address the issues in its System in Migori County. The Forum was held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and other key stakeholders.
The Forum was held under the theme “Revitalizing the Evidence Community for Kenya’s Education.” It was attended by several delegations from the Ministry of Education and officials from the County Government. The officials joined the meeting to address the education system and take effective measures to improve it.
The meeting was also attended by the County Governor, Rahab Robi, along with academicians, researchers and policymakers at Tom Mboya University. During the meeting, they engaged in several discussions about Education and revitalising connections and relationships among members of the evidence community in Kenya.
As per the County Government, Rahab Robi, Kenya’s education system has faced numerous challenges. These educational challenges include CBC implementation, low student performance, inadequate resources, and a lack of evidence-based decision making.
Among these issues, the officials and stakeholders also conducted several discussions on other topics. The other discussed topics were
- Early Childhood Development
- Education Technology
- Evidence for Action
- Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation
- harmonisation & assessment
- Positioning Higher Education
The discussion aimed to transform Education and academic training partnerships for successful Education and training, among others.
County Governor Rahab was honoured to attend the meeting. She emphasised the importance of preserving the nation’s education system.
“Revitalizing the evidence community in Kenya’s education sector is crucial for improving the quality of education and addressing the challenges facing the education system,” she added.
Further, the county Governor was also pleased and honoured to represent 47 counties in addressing the crucial issue of Teacher Education Training.
“It was a productive and insightful meeting, and I look forward to continuing the important work of improving education in Kenya,” she remarked.
