Nigeria: Nollywood movie ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ has collected N1 billion at the box office in Nigeria and Ghana. receiving this huge collection Funke Akindele has become the highest grossing Producer and Director in Nollywood.
Funke Akindele is a director whose movies such as ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ and ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ grossed N1.404 billion and N636 million. She has become first Nigerian director to achieve this milestone in just 19 days.
Reportedly, the film has dominated the December 2024 box office and accounted for 40% of the total revenue with 202,604 admissions. Director Akindele noted that this success has solidified her position as the ‘highest-grossing producer and director’, with her holding the record from the ‘top-4 highest-grossing Nollywood films.’
Director Akindele expressed gratitude to her fans and said, “God did! Thank you, Jenifans for supporting Everybody Loves Jenifa! We couldn’t have gotten here without you.”

The success of ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is not only limited to Nigeria. In just eight days after making an international debut on Dec 20, the film has earned an impressive collection of $194, 560 (approx. N300 million) across various countries outside Africa, including UK, US, Canada and other regions.

Everybody Loves Jenifa
‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is a 2024 Nigerian English-Language comedy-drama film directed by Funke Akindele and Tunde Olaoye. The film was produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN) in collaboration with Olayemi Oshodi and was distributed by FilmOne Distributions.
The film casts Funke Akindele in the lead role, alongside Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Adedimeji Lateef, Falz, Layi Wasabi, Jackie Appiah, Omowunmi Dada, Chimezie Imo and Patience Ozokwor.
Recently, it is the sixth instalment in the Jenifa film series and a sequel to Jenifa on Lockdown (2021). The movie continues the story of Jenifa as she confronts the challenges posed by a new neighbour who threatens to outshine her charity organisation. It led to a series of confrontations fuelled by jealousy, rivalry and personal growth.
