Fake Doctor Busted! Caught while reading X-Ray upside down

Zimbabwe: A suspected fake doctor is busted, after he was seen reading an X-Ray Upside Down. The doctor who is identified as Douglas Garikayi Mutoredzanwa was analysing the X-Ray wrong in front of a patient at the Parirenyatwa Hospital, Harare.

At present, the fake doctor has been arrested and has taken to court. The report was filed by the complainant Whatmore Tarugarira aged 43 who is a loss control officer at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare.

The culprit doctor, Douglas Garikayi Mutodzanwa appeared in before the Harare Magistrate – Dennis Mangosi, who remanded him to appear in the Custody on April 29, 2024.

Reportedly, the court noted that a warrant of arrest in name of Mutoredzanwa was also filed for another incident of 2019 case.

Douglas Garikayi pleaded in front of the court to release him as he wanted to visit his wife at the hospital who is with the newly born baby and is sick.

Mutoredzanwa was misrepresented to the court that he has no previous convictions and the other case he had was completed earlier.

When the magistrate asked him that if he was a medical doctor, Douglas replied that he was a nurse.

The State officially alleged that on April 23, 2024, Mutoredzanwa went to Parirenyatwa Hospital’s consultation room-2.

As per the sources, Douglas Garikayi Mutoredzanwa misrepresented himself to the Wilson Takudzwa Kurangwa, who is a medical doctor and was on duty, attending a patient. He told him that he was also a medical doctor and was attending to a patient.

Mutoredzanwa then holded the X-Ray film from Kurangwa and pretended to examining and analysing it, while after sometime someone told him that it was upside down.

Douglas then left the X-Ray film and took two surgical blades, pethidine drugs, three syringes and along with that some cotton, two cannula sensitive tapes and a pair of gloves and went out with them.

Kurangwa then became suspicious with the way Mutoredzanwa who was holding the X-Ray and alerted Tarugarira, who complined the matter.

Later, Tarugarira then teamed up with some security guards and arrested the suspected fake doctor, after he failed to give a satisfactory explanation of his purpose of visiting the hospital.

The court then heard that Mutoredzanwa was inspected and hospital instruments such as two surgical blades, pethidine drugs, three syringes, cotton, two cannula sensitive tapes and a pair of gloves, were recovered from him. After which the hospital team handed him over to the police.
