Cape Town: The volunteer firefighters of the City of Cape Town has concluded its gift giving ceremony to commemorate the festival of Christmas.
Reportedly, the Fire and Rescue Service of the City of Cape Town has completed the handover of the hundreds of gifts to the eight children’s homes and places of safety, being just in time for Christmas.
The F&R Service arranged this all with the generous support of Pick n Pay and beat Santa to the deadline.

Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith along with Chief fire Officer – Clinton Manuel joined the Fire & Rescue staff as well as Pick n Pay representatives and distributed till the last of the gifts.
Smith added that it is the season for giving and the firefighters have once again shown that they go well beyond the call of duty. According to the Safety and Security Directorate, they are on the frontline of every day saving lives and property but they are also a true embodiment of the Christmas spirit.
“At this time, we wish all the residents a safe and happy Christmas and to celebrate responsibly. Our work to keep everyone safe throughout the festive season continues in the Safety and Security Directorate,” concluded JP Smith.

Notably, the recipients of the Christmas gifts from the Fire & Rescue Service of the City of Cape Town, were children from:
- Heaven’s Nest in Ottery
- Habibia Children’s Home in Rylands
- Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West
- Little Angels Home in Somerset West
- Luthando Orphanage and Child Care in Flamingo Vlei
- Rainbow of Hope in Goodwood

- and, St. George’s House in Wynberg
Christmas is a festival which should be celebrated with all. It is a festival to share happiness with all and expand the joy as much as possible. Organising the gift giving ceremony was a part of a great cause to extend happiness to the children who are in much need.
