Founder of CWA, Anna Foncha celebrates 100th birthday

Cameroon: Wife of late John Ngu Foncha, the former Southern Cameroon Reunification Prodigy – Anna Foncha is the newest centenarian of the town. Anna Foncha is the founder of Catholic Woman Association and has celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, 23 Dec 2023.

The recently turned 100, Anna Foncha is a lively and free-spirited woman who has conquered numerous challenges in her life. Anthony Ndang Ndichia celebrated her 100th birthday amongst a mass gathering at St John Foncha Street in Nkwen, Bamenda.

She founded CWA of Cameroon, back in 1964 that left an indelible mark on the country’s political and social system.

Considering the same, Cameroonian politician Barrister Akere Muna shared the friendly memories of the Foncha and Muna families.

Barrister Muna enlightened about the joyful moments shared with Mama Anna. He emphasised the remarkable journey of the woman who played crucial role during the reunification of Southern Cameroons and French Cameroon in 1961.

He recalled the memories of nurturing presence when Muna himself with his brothers faced a challenging time after their mother passed away in 1983.

In her praise, Akere Muna said that throughout his entire existence he has not seen a vibrant lady like her. He cherishes the moments spent with her.

He added to his statement that in an era where doubt seeks to erode the unity and threaten the bedrock of the nation, her life stands as an unyielding testament to the enduring hope embodied in the past.

“By some divine providence, Mama Anna is preserved among us, a living link to our heritage, urging us to remember our journey forward,” said Akere Muna.

New centenarian Anna Foncha now enters her second century and the nation congratulates her by reflecting on her remarkable journey and contributions and celebrate a life intertwined with the intricate threads of Cameroon’s history and heritage.

The local public also congratulated her on completing 100 years in honour, let’s read the wishes:

Popular public figure, Millbrigg Simon Spencer wished her and wrote, “Happy birthday mama. For adding value to the life of Catholic Christian mothers through the formation of CWA, we thank you. Live on, enjoy your old age with blessings of good health as we tap from you.”

Another local, Fu Lovet commented, “Happy birthday our great mother may God continue to protect and keep you for us. We are happy for you.”

Njola Epouse Tams commented, “Happy centenary birthday our beloved mother and founder of the CWA. I wish you a happy birthday and more blessings from God.”
