Four Nations of Africa to organise joint football tournament at upcoming FIFA

The Four Nations of Africa have decided to arrange joint football tournaments. The football associations of Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe announced that the four nations have agreed to hold the joint football tournaments at the upcoming FIFA international window between March 18 to 26, 2024 in Lilongwe, Malawi.

As per the sources, the first tournament of the four nations will feature the senior men’s national teams (A-teams).

The tournament presents a valuable opportunity for the national teams. It is a platform for them to face quality opposition in preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 AFCON qualifying campaigns.

Reportedly, the concurrent youth tournament for the U20 national teams will take place during the same period. Moreover, they have brought the best young players from across the countries.

The U20 tournaments will aid and help in developing and exposing elite youth talent while preparing teams for upcoming 2024 AFCON Under 20 qualifying players, later this year, in 2024.

Notably, the four nations are committed to collaborating to advance football development and transformation across the region.

The official organisers of the tournament expressed that it is their belief that such events elevate youth football programs across Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The officials said, “We believe hosting these joint tournaments will build camaraderie between the nations, provide high-level competition for the players and will elevate the youth football programs across Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

They explained further and promised to host exciting tournaments. The organisers said, “We look forward to host exciting tournaments that will display the very best talent of the countries and have to offer. Further details on match schedules and related to tournament logistics will be announced in the due course.”

Following the announcement, the football fans expressed their emotions and presented their views and opinions.
