Free State: As part of the 2024 back to school Campaign, the Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana led outreach activities and deployed his Members of the Executive Council and HOD’s to different schools around Free State.
MECs and HODs were deployed in all five districts to encourage and motivate learners ahead of the new academic year. Parents and educators are encouraged to work together in order to create a safe school environment and a better future for the Province.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the greatest weapon to change the world. “According to the Free State government, Education is one of its priorities in order to fight poverty, unemployment and inequalities.
Acting MEC for the Department of Social Development, Thabo Meeko, was deployed in Viljoenskroon, where he visited two schools, namely:
- Rehauhetswe Secondary School
- D.R Sello Primary School.
While Acting HOD, Makgotso Mbuyisa visited Bahale Secondary School in Henneman lejweleputswa District.
During these visits school, the MEC of Free State distributed uniforms, school stationeries, and school bags were distributed to needy, underprivileged, and disadvantaged learners in all five districts.
Moreover, they also acknowledged that the Free State has produced top Matric results for three consecutive years. MEC Meeko emphasised the significance of quality education from a foundation phase in order for the Free State Province to continuously produce quality results and meet the standards set in previous Matric results.
Let us work together as government, learners, educators, teachers and the community at large to build more reliable schools and a safe school environment.
MEC Meeko, visited two schools at Viljoenskroon in Moqhaka Local Municipality, namely: Rehauhetswe Secondary School and D.R Sello Primary School. He was joined by Dr. M. Nokwequ, the HOD of DESTEA, and the Officials from both the Departments he is leading, including the local Councilors, Municipal Officials and Senior Officials from the Fezile Dabi District Department of Education.
