Botswana: Gaborone City Council which has been working tirelessly for the beautification of the communities has recently shared some videos showing illegal dumping of waste in various parts of the community. The videos show some areas of the community littered with waste, which was ot properly disposed off.
The members of the community have the responsibility to make sure that the communities that they live in can be held upto a certain standard. The officials have shared that it is the responsibility of the people to not only maintain hygiene in the community, but also make sure that it remains beautiful.
The videos and images of waste dumped in the various points around the city has left the administration highly discouraged. They have, as such taken a strict stance on the situation to dissuade further offenses.
According to the administration’s directive, anyone who is found responsible for dumping waste in illegal spots will face fines. The Gaborone City council administration caught a perpetrator in the act as he was dumping waste in a secluded area in the community. The administration has not only fined the culprit, but also warned the man to not repeat these actions.
He was also asked to take all waste found there to Gamodubu landfill and dispose of the waste in a designated place. This will help in maintaining better hygiene and cleanliness in the community and also work towards making the communities beautiful.
The administration has asked the people of the community to support them in discouraging these incidents. They have urged the community to make sure that they reach out with information if they see similar incidents happening in the community.
