Botswana: Gaborone City Council (GCC) Roads Division under Civil and Mechanical Department hosted team building exercise. The aim of the collaboration is to improve the comradery spirit amongst workers of the Department.
The team building exercise for the department officials was held at Woodpecker restaurant under the theme “Together We Can”.
The Deputy Town Clerk- Development Chidzani Mudongo delivered a brief address at the event. He said that he was happy with the department’s effort to unite and create a conducive environment for staff members.
Mudongo stress the importance of getaways as it helps employees to unwind and recharge as well as building productive relationships among workers.He encouraged the participants to fully participate in team building exercises hosted for their benefit.
He noted that the exercises as it gives them a chance to know and understand each other better and become more productive. He also urged them reciprocate their experiences with others to benefit the whole of Gaborone City Council.
Chief Civil & Mechanical Engineering Bethuel Tlhotlhole said the purpose of this event is to create a strong bond between all workers despite the position or scale. Tlhotlhole stressed that healthy work relationships create a great working environment, team work hence productive workforce.
Chief Human Resource & Admin Officer Khumo Maruza said the theme of this occasion relate well with the council’s slogan ( Kgetsi Ya Tsie). The slogan and theme emphasise that together we can make a meaningful contribution in the community we serve.
Maruza hiighlighted that maintaining good work relationships can help produce positive results as there will be respect, love and appreciation among workers.
She urged everyone to have objectives and know what they are supposed to do in order to monitor if they are making progress or not. She emphasised the need to maintain good relationships as this will help in maintaining healthy teamwork.
Safety Health and Education Officer Kekgabile Solomon had a chance to share with officers the importance of safety in the workplace.
Solomon touched on topics such as putting on proper protective clothing as well as adhering to all safety precautions to avoid injuries in workplace.
