Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has shared some glimpses from the progress of the geothermal power plant project. The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Dominica has shared detailed updates in a video.
The Prime Minister said that the power plant will help in meeting the energy needs of the country and make sure that the energy deficit in the DOMLEC is addressed. At the same time, the project will help in meeting the clean energy goal of the country.
The New power plant will help in making sure that the energy prices on the island will lower for the benefit of the community.
The Minister said that the project is on track for December 2025 completion. He noted during his site visit that they are working at a satisfactory pace. They have overseen equipment being brought to the site for the construction project.
The equipment that has reached the site of the construction includes the turbines
The Minister highlighted that they have finished the installation of the heaviest part of the Power Plant— the metal frame. They have also installed the cooling systems and condensers. They are helpful in cooling and converting the working fluid vapour back to liquid phase.
The installation of the turbines is the next step that the government of Dominica is expecting to see concluded. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, et al noted that they are well on their way to meeting their completion date in December 2025.
During the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that a team from the world bank was also on site to see the progress of the plant. The team has been working hard with the government of Dominica to get this project off the road.
The collaboration has been in place for the construction of the Geothermal Power. Minister Henderson has claimed that he was delighted to welcome the team from the world bank.
He also noted that in light of the progress as of yet. They are confident that they will be able to complete this construction work in time.
