Ghetto Kids Gang Violence claims life of 16 yr old in Kenilworth

SAPS cops have claimed that the gang-related violence is increasing across the Cape Flats as gangs are fighting for their rankings, drugs and money.

Cape Town: Kenilworth shooting case happened on Wednesday was gang-related, said the South African Police Service. Two people were declared dead at the scene in a white Toyota Yaris after an unknown gunman who riddled the vehicle with bullets.

Reportedly, the men aged 23 and 38 were from the Ghetto Kids Gang in Hanover Park. The third person who sustained the moderate injuries was a woman, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting incident, along with a teenager. The men were murdered by a rival gang, confirmed the sources.

As per the sources, the Cape Flats was heated at the moment and everyone is fair game. The things in the underworld are all over the place with gang bosses embroiled in these hectic court cases and then Geweld (George Thomas) is being moved.

Moreover, the provincial police spokesperson, Captain – Frederick van Wyk said the motive for the shooting is gang-related. The cops also said that the circumstances surround a shooting incident on Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m. on the corner of Rosmead Avenue and Dingle/Jesmond Road, Claremont are still under investigation.

The Claremont police are investigating two counts of murder and attempted murder. Van Wyk said that according to the reports, two males aged 23 and 38, were shot and fatally wounded and a woman was injured.

A boy aged 16, who was also in the vehicle sustained no injuries. The injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital for her medical checkup and treatment. The motive is believed to be related to a gang. The case docket will be transferred to the Anti-Gang Unit till further investigation.

SAPS urged the citizens that if anyone has the information about the shooting incident, they must reach out to the police and inform them about the same.

Following the case, Chairperson – Penny Owens, of the Claremont Sector-04 Sub-forum told the Cape Argus the incident that left the residents in the area shocked.

Owens cleared that this was a highly unusual incident for the sector and the greater Claremont. She said that due to the highly unusual nature of the incident, it did shock the community, as what would have happened if an innocent bystander or motorist was injured. We are very grateful that they were not.

From the information gained, we have ascertained that nobody or no one is injured while shooting lives in the Claremont area, added Owens.
