Zambia: The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema has donated farming inputs to four traditional leaders. The aim of the donations is to ensure development in the agriculture sector of the Mwense District of Luapula Province.
The donations have been bestowed upon the chiefs Mulundu, Lubunda, Lukwesa and Kashiba. As per the president’s directive, all four leaders received eight 50 Kilogram bags of both D compound and Urea fertilisers.
Further, the leaders will also be receiving a 10 kilogram bag of maize seed each for the 2024-2025 farming season. The donation has come for the improvement of the agriculture output since the previous years.
The leaders have shared that they are delighted to receive the support and donation from the highest office of Zambia
As such, beneficiary traditional leaders have commended President Hakainde Hichilema for the inputs. They extended their appreciation from their palaces when Mwense District Commissioner, Happystone Mwape delivered the inputs.
The District Commissioner was also lauded for his efforts on behalf of the Head of State. The traditional leaders noted that the gesture would help contribute to household and chiefdom food security.
As per the reports of the media, Chief Lubunda of the Lunda speaking people observed that through the donation, President Hichilema has demonstrated commitment towards improving the welfare of chiefs in the country.
“I want to thank the President for his gesture and I pray that God himself will allow him to win the second term so that he can have more time to implement his policies that will help improve the lives of the citizens,” Chief Lubunda said.
Meanwhile, Chieftainess Lukwesa observed that various interventions by President Hichilema and his government to improve food security and address the hunger situation needed to be supported by all.
The members of the community have shared that the donation will help alleviating the hunger crisis and food insecurity in the country. The President, Hakainde Hichilema and his team are well aware of the situation and crisis that comes with it.
He has been working to support the communities across the nation with several, different initiatives.
