South Africa: The Reaction Unit South Africa has received reports of a home invasion in a house of Everest Heights – KZN. The incident happened on Friday, wherein the house of a 73-year-old female was attacked.
The suspect confronted the 73-year-old after he had concealed himself in her home in Everest Heights. The victim had stepped out of her house when the suspect gained entry and hid in one of the rooms.
The Reaction Unit South Africa received the call of assistance from the neighbour of the victim at around 15:17. The neighbour stated that she called the authorities after they heard the victim seeking assistance.
The reaction officers responded to the call shortly after arriving at the scene and interviewing the victim. The woman informed the Reaction Unit Officers that she had left the house through the rear door to lock up her garage.
When she returned, she noticed a male sitting in a crouched position next to her washing machine in the kitchen. After this, the suspect grabbed the woman and covered her mouth with his hand.
She managed to free herself from the suspect and called out for assistance. Officers entered the house and investigated. At this time, the victim informed the authorities that an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from her God lamp. The victim informed the officials that her cellphone was also missing.
The victim confessed that the incident had left her traumatised however, she was not injured. The people of the country have extended their sympathy to the victim and condemned the actions of the suspect.
The daughter of the victim also reached out to thank the reaction officers for all the support and assistance that they provided. The people of the province reached out to applaud the reaction officers for their dedicated service to the community.
One social media user, Shereen Naidoo was happy with the development. She claimed Thank god shes okay. We are so fed up with this crime every day all around us. Something needs to be done ASAP. Enough is enough.
