Cape Town: HSBC SVNS Rugby is celebrated as the biggest party in the town and is back to Cape Town this week with two days of thrilling action, music performances and summer party vibes. To be a part of this historical event there’s a specific guide dedicated to this biggest rugby festival.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the Cape Town is once again ready to set the stage for excitement on and off the field.
Smith explained that it is going to be a fun-filled weekend of rugby, dancing and music. He expressed that he is looking forward to a spectacular show.
“I encourage ticket holders to plan their days and routes to the stadium,” said JP Smith. Residents and commuters who usually make use of roads in the area are also advised to take note of closures. He added that it is one of their premier events and they want to make sure that everyone enjoys it to the fullest.
Furthermore, the Cape Town SVNS plans to make history with an attempt to break the world record for the largest ever Amapiano dance-off at a rugby match.
It is led by the two-time world hip-hop champions and Cape Town’s own Street Stylers. Fans are invited to dress-up and be a part of the ‘Amapiano #NoDNA JustRSA” dance campaign, that is going to launch on Sunday, December 08, 2024.
The dance group has hosted public workshops throughout the city over the last month to teach fans the dance ahead of the world record attempt. Tickets for the same are available at the Ticketmaster.
Since a decade, the Cape Town SVNS has proved to be more than just a rugby tournament. It has become a vibrant festival that celebrates sports, music and an all-round good time.
In 2024, Amapiano takes the centre stage with two of the popular music genre’s biggest stars – Tyler ICU and Kamo Mphela, who are set to headline the Cape Town SVNS.
The festival has lined up other performances such as acrobatic motorcycles and dancers, adding more to the music performances. They are set to light up the rugby festival on Dec 07 & 08, 2024, pairing along with DJ Ready D, Roger Goode, Neon Dreams and Gremlin.
Notably, several roads in and around the Green Point Precinct will be closed during the event, that will result in traffic congestion.
Spectators are encouraged to make use of the free MyCiTi shuttle to the stadium. Cape Town SVNS ticket holders can get a free bus from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and CTICC on Saturday and Sunday.
The visitors can park their vehicles at the CTICC and the Civic Centre. On-street parking is also available.
At the Civic Centre, the City of Cape Town will open its 475 parking rugby fans on a first-come, first-served basis from 07:30 a.m. The parking areas are accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road.
