South Africa (Mpumalanga): As the 2024 school year dawns, Immemeza Secondary School received remarkable support from the Department of Justice and Correctional Services, Social Development, Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust and Emakhazeni Local Municipality on Wednesday morning.
A host of activities took place, from paving the surroundings, construction of a school shelter, and cultivation of a vegetable garden to the delight of both the MEC for Education, Bonakele Majuba and the Minister of Social Development, Lidiwe Zulu, who graced the occasion.
These activities were influenced by a renewed commitment to providing a vibrant, nurturing learning and teaching environment for all learners and teachers at this school.
Indeed, it was a formidable united front of government officials, community leaders, and students from the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust who participated in the School’s Clean-Up Programme at this school.
This initiative is the cornerstone of the Department of Education’s “Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena” campaign.
The Parolees from the Department of Justice and Correctional Services contributed through their community service programme by cultivating a vegetable garden that will soon provide healthy food for school meals.
The students from the Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust are constructing a sheltered space for outdoor activities and gatherings.
The Minister of Social Development donated computers, which will open up a world of learning opportunities for five schools across Emakhazeni Local municipality.
MEC Majuba called on everyone to embrace this collective effort. No one is being left behind. Moreover, the Department is accelerating efforts to create upgraded learning facilities by replacing ageing classes and constructing new ones with new ablution blocks and a modern administration building at Ebhudlweni Primary School in Emakhazeni Local Municipality in Nkangala District.
This is part of the Department’s endeavour to create a school environment which is conducive to learning and teaching.
While construction is in progress and expected to be completed in July 2024, learners will enjoy learning in spacious, air-conditioned mobile classrooms equipped with all the necessary resources.
Indeed, this is a progressive effort towards building a brighter future for Ebhudlweni Primary School learners.
