Cape Town: The Investec Cape Town Art Fair has returned and will connect the Mother City to the global art world. It will be observed at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Feb 21-23, 2025.
Reportedly, the event sponsored by the City of Cape Town has become a key platform where the African art market connects with the global art scene. This is the 12th edition of the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, that will spotlight over 120 galleries from the legislative capital of South Africa, Africa and around the world.
Beginning on Friday, Feb 21, 2025, the Investec event will also showcase the work of more than 300 artists from diverse global backgrounds, that will provide an exciting platform for art lovers and collectors.
Investec Cape Town Art Fair is one of the largest art event of Africa. It showcases a collection of art from 58 countries and more than 30,000 visitors visit here annually.
The yearly Art Fair serves as a platform for galleries, collectors, curators and artists to connect at the forefront of contemporary art, offering an unparalleled opportunity to be part of the growing African art scene.
Mother City’s thriving art scene will be held at the forefront, involving over 40 Cape Town-based galleries that will participate to display their talent.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the visual art sector of the Cape Town has been on the rise over the last decade due to the positive developments occurred in the exciting local scene, investment in new galleries and an increase in demand for African art.
Smith added that through several projects that are led by the Arts and Culture branch and various initiatives supported by the Events Department, intention of the City of Cape Town is to contribute to the sector’s for further growth over the coming years.
The support received for the Investec Cape Town Art Fair forms a part of the broader strategy and they are grateful for the contribution of the event in elevating the Cape Town art scene to the global stage.
Cape Town’s partnership with the fair will record five emerging creatives from the Arts and Culture Branch’s Emerging Artist Programme (EAP) who exhibit their work, while learning from industry experts and gaining valuable exposure in the process.
The EAP supports under-resourced artists in the early stages of their careers by providing proper training, mentorship, networking opportunities and exhibition platforms.
Notably, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair is a three-day event, that will run until Sunday, Feb 23, 2025 at the CTICC.
Considering the programmes, the fair will host talks, walkabout sessions in some of the city galleries and museum shows. It will also host an after-hours Art Hub with an electrifying line-up of local DJs, starting at 7:00 p.m. in The Gin Bar on Wale Street.
