Mauritius: Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal launched a food distribution initiative on Tuesday. The launch event was hosted in the pre natal and post natal and paediatric ward of the Dr AG Jeetoo Hospital, in Port Louis.
The government has taken the initiative to help the new and expecting mothers of the community in transitioning to a new role. The food packs that are being distributed contain a hot balanced meal, to patients admitted in the hospital wards.
During the launch event of the initiative, The Minister offered the food packs to patients admitted in the hospital. The patients in the to the in pre-natal, post-natal and paediatric wards can often struggle to get nutritious meals during their hospital stays.
The administration believes that the donation initiative will help the government in supporting the patients of the hospital. The Minister of Health and Wellness was delighted with the initiative as it will help many patients have a complete and smooth recovery.
Due to the support provided by the government’s initiative, they do not have to worry about managing their diets. Accordingly, they can focus better on getting better and leaving the hospital completely satisfied with their care.
The Minister of Health and Wellness, Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal announced that the project will be implemented in the five regional hospitals. Accordingly, the ministry provided 14 heated food trolleys to three different wards in each hospital to keep the food packs warm.
The Minister also discussed the government’s inspiration behind coming up with the event in the launch ceremony. Dr Jagutpal recalled that the project is a budgetary measure aimed at providing a modern food service to patients admitted to regional hospitals.
During the event, he called the project as innovative. He added that patients will be able to consume their meal which will be served in a more hygienic and appealing manner, as per their convenience.
Furthermore, the Health Minister pointed out that this food service will facilitate the task of Nursing Officers by saving time. This way, they can give a better service to the patients.
