Dr Mutoliki explained that this followed cases of coughing and flu among the pupils at the institution last week. After the officials took some medical tests all the pupils who have tested positive for COVID-19 were quarantined.

The quarantine centre has been created at the school’s sports hall. Further, the Central Province Health Director shared further details about the pupil’s health situation.

According to the medical officers, Most pupils we have seen are asymptomatic. This means that the severity of the disease is very low. The condition of the affected pupils is stable and while they are in quarantine, they are still able to study.

He added that the two pupils admitted to Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital had been discharged. The officials have asked the parents not to panic due to the outbreak of the Covid 19 Virus. Dr Mutoloki announced that the Ministry of Health and School Management has already started preventive measures.

The organization has instituted normal COVID-19 regulations to prevent the further spread and management of the disease among pupils and the teaching staff.

“There are some pupils who have not yet been vaccinated and our appeal is for the parents to consent so that we can administer the vaccine as this will work to help the pupils get more protection other than just observing normal COVID-19 regulations such as masking up,” Dr Mutoloki said.
