Karl Toko Ekambi says goodbye to Indomitable Lions

Karl Toko Ekambi from national football team of Cameroon ‘FECAFOOT’ has announced his retirement via his Instagram handle.

Cameroon: Footballer Karl Toko Ekambi from the National Football Team of Cameroon ‘FECAFOOT’ has announced his retirement via his Instagram handle.

The thirty-one-year-old indomitable lions player made his international debut for Cameroon in the year 2015. The soccer player represented the country at the African Cup of Nations in the years 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023, out of which they won the tournament in 2017.

Karl Ekambi decided to retire from international football after competing in four AFCON matches with the FECAFOOT Indomitable Lions. He also participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

While announcing his retirement on Instagram Ekambi wrote in his post, “Disappointed not to go further but proud of my team for putting it all together. A fourth African Cup of Nations closes the chapter, marks the end of history. Forever an Indomitable Lion.”

He further added in his words, “My teammates and I gave it our all but it wasn’t enough. We offer our sincere apologies to the people of Cameroon that we have disappointed. We promise to make it up in the next matches of the Indomitable Lion.”

Footballer Karl received much appreciation for all he has done for the team and good luck to him on his future ventures.

A social media user Ebuks Ray commented, “Good Luck with the rest of your club career.”

Another Nathan Kentah wrote, “What is really happening in the national team.”

A fan of Karl Toko Ekambi, Ataah Berckly wrote, “I wept after seeing this post from Toko. I showed it to my neighbours everyone wept. I went to our family meeting in the village showed this post to them, everyone wept. As of now am still weeping. Toko you took a right decision as a man with five senses. Allow song and Eto’o to manage Cameroon football. If them like Brenda Biya can replace Onana, am done.”

Another person Boris JJ wrote, “Why 31-year-old player is urging for retirement so quickly.”

But some fans and people are not able to accept the information about his retirement is true and responded.

A person named Thomas Sankara commented, “Fake he has not said he is going on retirement, but rather given his apologies for the disappointment.”

Another person Jordan Le Chriss expressed, “But wait ooo, where in this message does he say he is retiring or am I the only one that can read English Language normally!?”
