Zambia: The Katete Muslim Association (KMA) has started the operation of drilling 25 additional boreholes in Katete District. The aim of the initiative is to improve the hygiene of the communities within the district.
The KMA wants to support the efforts of the government of the district and center and promote access to clean, safe drinking water.
The Chairman of Katete Muslim Association Siraz Esmail announced that the association is succeeding in improving access to clean and safe drinking water in Katete district. Last year, the organization allegedly banded over 90 boreholes to the community.
The organization has claimed that the are feeling encouraged by the success of the project. Ever since, the association has started working on an initiative to drill an additional 25 boreholes.
The chairperson made these remarks while he was explaining the significant successes recorded by the organization. He has said that the project seeks to address the pressing issue of water scarcity in many villages.
Speaking about the situation within the district, Siraz Esmail said that residents lack access to reliable sources of safe drinking water.
Further he said the the organization, Katete Muslim Association is constantly dedicated to the people of the country. They have shared that the project taken up by. KMA is expected to benefit thousands of families.
This will also help in significantly improving their health and quality of life.
He said as the work on the new boreholes progresses, the community anticipates a positive impact on their daily lives which will further highlight the importance of sustainable water solutions in rural areas.
Further Esmail has also said that the addition of these 25 boreholes will bring the total number of boreholes drilled by the association to 400.
“As Katete Muslim Association, we promise more boreholes, as this is a continuous project,” he said.
Hygiene and safety is an important aspect for the people of Katete as the community has witnessed the cholera outbreak recently. The additional boreholes also seek to make the communities disease free due to better cleanliness
