Kenya Ports Authority makes another donation under Iftar Donation Drive

The food was donated to the families who celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 and observed the holy month of Ramadan.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has donated food to more than 100 families in Tana River County which is worth Ksh 200,000, under the ‘Iftar Donation Drive’ that began last week in April. The food was distributed to the vulnerable and underprivileged families who belong to Muslim community in the county.

The food was donated to the families who celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 and observed the holy month of Ramadan.

Reportedly, the authority through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) program has dubbed Tunahusika and has prioritised the community outreach programs.

The authority has also collaborated to support socio-economic causes within the community.

Similarly, under the ‘Iftar Donation Drive’ started by the Kenya Ports Authority, last week, several areas in the coastal region were benefitted. The vulnerable families with children who were affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus in Likoni Constituency in Mombasa County were benefitted.

As per the sources, the donation of the food items worth Ksh 200,000 will aid the families in need and will be provided with the essential items to enable and celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr with dignity and joy.

Considering the same, a meeting was addressed, which was attended by the member of the parliament of the area Mishy Mboko, who thanked the Kenya Ports Authority for the honourable initiative taken by the officials and which was appealed for further support.

Kenya Ports Authority has been providing the assistance to the communities through its Corporate Social Initiative program which was started mainly to support the education, infrastructure, health sector and sports.

Before these offerings, the donation was made on April 07, 2024 by the Muslim Community in Lamu County. The Lamu County received their share of the food donation which was presented by the Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority Captain William Ruto at the KPA headquarters on Thursday, April 04, 2024.

Mary Wangai on the behalf of the General Manager of the Lamu Port – Engineer Vincent Sidai spoke at the Port of Lamu and enlightened regarding the initiative of donation.

She highlighted the Kenya Ports Authority’s unwavering commitment to support and stand in solidarity with the Muslim community during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Wangai further stated that she is pleased to announce that the Managing Director Captain William Ruto is generously donating the food items to various Muslim organisations on Thursday, which are worth of 1.5 million shillings.

“Today, we are here to deliver the portion designated for Lamu County on his behalf,” stated Mary Wangai.
